Questions

Everything you want to ask

If your question is not here, ask it at your free consultation — that is exactly what it is for.

Does permanent makeup hurt?

Most clients describe it as pressure with some scratching rather than pain. A topical anaesthetic is applied before we begin and topped up during the appointment. Lips are the most sensitive area, brows the least. If you are anxious about discomfort, say so at your consultation — we can adjust pacing and numbing accordingly.

How long does permanent makeup last?

Typically one to three years, depending on the service, your skin type and your lifestyle. Oily skin and regular sun exposure both shorten it. Powder brows generally outlast hair-stroke work such as NanoBlading. It fades gradually and softly rather than disappearing, so you stay in control of whether to refresh it.

What is the difference between NanoBlading and powder brows?

NanoBlading draws individual hair strokes with an ultra-fine needle and blends into your existing brow hair, giving the most natural, textured result — it is the more precise evolution of microblading. Powder brows build soft shading for an even, filled-in finish. NanoBlading suits fine to medium density; powder brows work better on oily, sparse, mature or previously tattooed brows. Your consultation exists to work out which is genuinely right for you.

Why is a touch-up needed?

Skin heals unpredictably, and no first session heals perfectly evenly — that is true of every artist and every technique. The touch-up at four to six weeks is where we assess how your skin held the pigment and refine shape, colour and density. It is part of the process, not a correction of a mistake.

Who is not a good candidate?

Permanent makeup is not suitable during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, or for anyone on blood thinners, undergoing chemotherapy, or with certain skin conditions in the treatment area. Keloid-prone skin, uncontrolled diabetes and active skin infections also need medical clearance first. We go through your history at the consultation and will tell you plainly if it is not right for you.

Can you work over old permanent makeup?

Sometimes, and sometimes not — it depends on how dark, how large and what colour the existing work is. Please send a clear, unfiltered photo in daylight before booking so we can give you an honest answer rather than an optimistic one. Some cases need fading or removal first.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid alcohol and caffeine on the day, and blood thinners, fish oil and vitamin E for several days beforehand if your doctor agrees. Do not have Botox, fillers, chemical peels or strong retinol near the area for two weeks prior. Come with your brows as they normally are — no need to shape or fill them in.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes, and it carries no obligation. It exists so you can meet us, ask everything you want to ask, and get an honest recommendation — including a recommendation against treatment if that is the right answer for you.

Do you offer training?

Education is central to what Miba is building, and hands-on and online programmes are in development. Join the training waitlist and you will hear first when dates are announced.
