Education
Training the next generation of artists
Education is not a sideline at Miba — it is half the vision. Our programmes are in development, and no dates are confirmed yet. Waitlist members hear first.
The programme
Foundation Certification in Permanent Makeup
A draft outline of what the foundation programme will cover. It is indicative rather than final — the curriculum is still being built, and waitlist feedback shapes it.
Sanitation, safety and regulation
Bloodborne pathogen standards, cross-contamination control, workspace setup and Alberta's requirements for practising artists.
Skin and pigment theory
Skin anatomy, Fitzpatrick typing, undertone reading, colour theory and how pigment genuinely behaves as it heals.
Brow design and mapping
Measuring to bone structure and facial symmetry, and designing a brow that suits the client in front of you rather than a trend.
Technique — hands-on
Machine handling, depth control, stroke and shading practice on latex, then supervised work on live models.
Consultation and client care
Running an honest consultation, screening contraindications, setting realistic expectations and handling the difficult conversations.
Aftercare and corrections
Healing management, touch-up assessment, and how to approach correction work responsibly.
Building your practice
Portfolio building, pricing your work, and the business fundamentals of a sustainable studio.
Who it is for
- Aspiring artists starting from zero who want a credentialed, safety-first foundation rather than a weekend certificate.
- Working beauty professionals — lash, brow or makeup artists — adding permanent makeup to an existing practice.
- Certified PMU artists who want to refine technique and raise the standard of their natural, non-templated work.
Students travel to Calgary from across Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge and beyond.
